Nestled within the beautiful surroundings of Northern Illinois and divided by the meandering Nippersink Creek is Spring Grove. Spring Grove is one of the fastest growing municipalities in McHenry County. The Village’s current population is 4,978. Years of careful planning have rewarded the Village with an increase in both commercial and light industrial development. Increased residential developments have provided the Village with a high quality selection of housing.
Spring Grove was primarily established as an agricultural community. In fact, the first silo constructed in North America was built in the 1800’s on a small farm located in Spring Grove. A memorial marker stands today at Lyle Thomas Park to pay tribute to this historical site. Lyle Thomas Park is also home to one of four canoe launches/landings along the Nippersink Creek. The creek meanders around cut banks and sandbars, beneath willows and through rolling farmlands.
Spring Grove is proud to be the home of the Annual Fourth of July Celebration and Illinois Storytelling Festival. The Annual Fourth of July Celebration kicks off at Noon with a parade and ends with a fireworks display in the evening. People attend both events from surrounding communities and states.
